Colville Hall is a wedding barn venue in the village of White Roding, found on the Hertfordshire and West Essex border. The venue has recently opened thanks to a new venture by a businesswoman who identified the group of barns as a unique location for weddings.
The venue is steeped in history and dates back to the 14th Century. The courtyard of listed thatched barns surrounds a central manor house, which was formally used to host weddings in the Tudor period.
Rejuvenated and brought back to life, Colville Hall now provides the perfect setting for the modern day wedding. As a listed building much of the traditional features remain, but the interior has been revived with contemporary furniture.
Over 250 limewash Chiavari stacking chairs were ordered and the chairs have been used frequently for a variety of purposes around the venue. Whether used at the bride and groom’s table, for guests at the reception or for seating during catering, the chairs have shown their versatility.
Although versatile, the Chiavari style is a particularly popular choice for events, weddings and banquets. The elegant and beautifully carved design of the wood makes it the perfect choice for the special occasions that Colville Hall will be hosting.
“Our brides like them as they are a natural colour,” comments Philippa Wisbey, director. “We have had 15 wedding now and there hasn’t been any problems. I could have got cheaper chairs but I thought these would last longer. What I like is that I can just replace the chair covers when I want.”
The removable seat pad means that chair can be transformed and the look of the overall interior can be changed with minimal effort – a benefit that is particularly advantageous as a wedding venue, with couples’ tastes varying.
With wedding season approaching and this truly beautiful venue available, we’re sure that our wedding furniture will be used plenty over the coming months.
