The Avocet Trust is a charity that provides lifetime support for vulnerable adults across Hull and East Yorkshire.
Carers and volunteers provide high quality residential care in purpose built accommodation and offer support in everyday activities. Meaningful work is an important part of everyone’s life and as part of their daycare services, the charity has a number of education training centres available for clients, including one based at a farm in Preston.
Neat Marsh Farm is a therapeutic care farm where the power of growing plants and raising animals is utilised help the vulnerable adults reach their full potential. The farm also offers wood and metal workshops and classrooms to study.
A recent refurbishment and extension of the farm’s café area meant that the Avocet Trust was looking for new tables and chairs to match the development. The charity was looking for furniture that would be visually appealing as well as robust, comfortable and easy to assemble.
Following an online search, the decision makers from the charity agreed that the restaurant furniture package at Trent Furniture ticked all the boxes. The package includes 40 side chairs and 10 shaker tables, an ideal bundle for a food area seeking a fresh look.
Andrew Lacey, project manager was pleased with how easy the ordering process was: “From making our selection through to the delivery, the service was very prompt. Having a variety of products available saved us having to do a wider search online and potentially visiting places, which we did not really have the time to do.”
Some of the charity’s service users assisted in the assembly of the tables and the furniture is now used on a daily basis - whether it’s to eat their own lunch or to serve visitors of the café.
“The furniture has had a positive impact in that it is exactly what we were looking for. It is the right shape, size, quality and presentation for the professional feel we wanted for the new café,” explained Andrew.
