Little Stoke Cricket Club was founded in 1946 and is based in the heart of Staffordshire. It is a community-based club and has numerous junior teams ranging from the Under-9s to 17s as well as four senior sides.
All of the members, supporters and visitors enjoy the club’s social area and bar facilities both during and after fixtures. But because of the furniture’s poor state and age (16 years), the club had received a number of negative comments.
With this in mind, the club’s management committee went about trying to raise money through various fundraising events as well as grant claims. Following the news of a successful grant approval, LCSS went about trying to find some furniture.
“A number of quotations were received from various companies,” comments Alan Palmer, responsible for improving the club’s facilities. “However, the quality of the furniture, the competitive price obtained from Trent Furniture as well as the excellent customer service received meant that there was only one place to go.”
We provided the committee with advice on what style of chairs would fit, whether to have wood or veneer tables, and the type of fabric coverings to have put on their existing fixed bench furniture. It was decided that LSCC would order a mixture of tables and chairs: 48 straight leg captains chairs, two tulip tables, 10 rectangular wellington tables, one square wellington table (all in walnut) and 25 metres of flatweave fabric to upholster their new chairs.
“The feedback from the membership as well as visitors to our club has been extremely positive,” said Alan. “Members also tend to stay longer now that they are drinking and socialising in more comfortable and pleasant surroundings.”
It’s not just cricket that takes place at the club. There is a bowling green and the club also hosts local community clubs such as the Stone & District Stroke and Alzheimer’s Club. We were pleased to supply new bar pavilion furniture that all of its members can be proud of.
