Buckden Village Club is a members' club in the village in Cambridgeshire. The club is attached to Buckden Village Hall following an expansion of the hall with Lottery Millennium money in 2000 and 2001.
The club has a current membership number of about 500 but also has a non-members' bar. Following the investments in 2000, the club’s décor and fittings were new but as time has moved on, a programme of refurbishment and replacement has been needed once more.
To fund the developments, the club raises money through the membership programme but also through their annual music festival, Buckfest.
In recent times, the club has used the fundraising money to redecorate, carpeted the bar and replace wood flooring. But when deciding how to spend the money raised through the 2017 music festival, the committee reached the conclusion that much of the club’s furniture needed a refresh.
“We selected Trent as they offered exactly what we needed,” explains Ian Carter, Treasurer and Bookkeeper. “We wanted furniture similar to what we already had with the right wood and textile finishes to complement the existing seating. Not only that, but they could do that at a great price and with almost instant delivery!”
Already housing suitable tabling, the club decided that to focus on new seating for the member’s bar area. To replace the current seating, the committee decided on a mixture of stools, armchairs and tub chairs.
Tall Washington stools are propped up against the bar, small wooden stalls are dotted around the club and the Boston armchairs and Portobello tub chairs provide extra comfortable seating.
The new furniture will stand the club in good stead for the foreseeable future.
