Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust is a registered charity that runs community sports and educational activities on behalf of Watford FC.
The Meriden Community Centre is a vibrant youth and community centre run by the Trust. It was acquired by the trust in 2012 and was reopened in November 2016 after a five month closure due to a significant refurbishment.
The centre is now home to new facilities such as a 3G artificial grass pitch, changing rooms, state of the art gym, revamped main hall and café. The facility has been designed for the entire local community, irrespective of age, ability, gender or background. It aims to enhance the lives of local residents providing social benefits with its diverse programme of activities.
The centre was looking for a suitable set of chairs from a reputable business that would be used in the new main hall. The hall is used for many different functions so it was essential that the chairs were flexible in their appearance and design.
Following an extensive length of research on the internet, The Trust selected 200 navy blue harrow steel stacking chairs alongside a chair trolley. The chairs were first used at the grand re-opening of the centre, an event that was attended by Watford FC players Troy Deeney, Heurelho Gomes and Jerome Sinclair, and ex-manager Graham Taylor. Since then, the furniture has been used for several purposes including presentations by local businesses and charities.
“Ordering was easy and the chairs were delivered when required,” comments Steve Williams, head of facilities and inclusion at Watford FC. “The furniture has made a positive impact with good colour match to the architect’s designs. The chairs have also received very good reviews, being both comfortable and of a nice pattern.”
We’re pleased that our furniture has, in a small way, helped towards a successful opening for an important cause. For more details about the opening you can see this video.
