Restaurant furniture is all about seating your guests in comfort at a table that's just right to eat a meal off of - but it's not always as simple as that might sound.
Different restaurants serve food in different ways, and that can have a big impact on the size and shape of tables that you need, and on how close together you want your guests to be seated.
Use banquet tables for groups
For instance, if you often cater for large groups, you might prefer to have banqueting-style long, narrow tables, allowing large numbers of people to sit alongside each other along the full length of the table.
In the right space, this can be a very efficient way to seat a lot of people, as you lose less room compared with having lots of individual tables for four or six diners.
Use smaller restaurant tables for couples and families
But if you typically cater for smaller, family-sized groups, then individual dining tables are likely to be the better option, and a rectangular table can also make it easier to pull up a high chair for any babies or infants who are present for the meal.
And there's more - some cultures base mealtimes around sharing, so if your restaurant serves Spanish tapas, or even just starter platters designed for sharing, you might need extra space on the table for the food and accompanying side plates.
Remember, restaurant furniture is specifically designed for the job - if you have any kind of 'normal' dining establishment, there should by definition be the correct furniture available to suit your needs.
There is a lot of flexibility regarding the size and shape of your tables, and the number of diners you seat at each one, and you can have some tables laid for two diners, some for four, and some larger ones for six and eight and so on.
You may even wish to lay some with odd numbers of places, so groups of three or five do not feel as though they have not been catered for.
Round tables are particularly useful for this, as you can squeeze in an extra place setting, or remove one completely, without the chairs being unevenly distributed around the perimeter of the table.
