The autumn months are upon us, and that means daylight hours will be growing shorter; but smart use of banqueting furniture could be one way to keep high streets busy on those darker evenings, and bridge the gap until the Christmas shopping period sets in.
Autumn has plenty of calendar events, including the notable examples of Halloween at the end of October, and Bonfire Night in early November, and that means there are several opportunities to host events to coincide with these.
In Herne Hill, this has been done in recent years, with the Herne Hill Free film festival, Halloween parties and Christmas events too, and the Department for Communities and Local Government says the government is committed to allowing communities to help their high streets adapt to modern demands.
Last October, a report on the High Street Renewal Fund showed how initiatives like those in Herne Hill had helped their high streets to persevere, at a time when those elsewhere are struggling to keep pace with e-commerce and other such developments.
High streets minister Brandon Lewis said at the time: "When local civic and business leaders take action they can change the fortunes of their high street. Town teams are fizzing with ideas."
A year on from the report, and with summer drawing to an end once again, it's the perfect opportunity for town teams to put their plans into action and bridge the gap between the best and brightest of the weather, and the end-of-year retail surge brought about by Christmas.
Banqueting furniture has its own part to play in allowing such initiatives to take place, and can accommodate almost any size of group, in a wide range of different indoor and outdoor settings, in tents and temporary structures, and so on.
This can allow different sizes of community to come together for a feast day or other celebration, a community-led Halloween or Bonfire Night party, or simply for an autumn festival that brings residents to one place, allows them to enjoy an evening's entertainment, and provides a boost for the local high street at the same time.
