Stopping off at a traditional pub for a pint or a roast dinner after a Sunday stroll is a long-running past time in Britain. Pubs are simply a staple of British life. They are where we go to socialise and are often at the heart of a village’s community.
Alongside the chirpy landlord, heart food and drink, a pub’s furniture plays an integral part in the experience and in a way makes the pub a pub. A leather armchair to sink into, an open fireplace, wooden tabling and a social beer garden are all things that make a British pub real.
Exposed brick walls, wooden beams and a traditional bar all set the scene but the correct use of furniture in between helps to complete the look.
Rustic pub furniture options
If your desired interior for your pub is rustic, we have plenty of furniture to accommodate.
It is recommend that wooden furniture is chosen for a rustic effect. Most wooden pub furniture is available in light oak, walnut or dark oak colour so it is easy to choose a finish to complement the character of your pub's interior. When it comes to traditional pub furniture designs, we will always recommend using colonial and farmhouse furniture.
Here are some possible pieces of furniture to use in a rustic pub:
Pub chairs don’t come more traditional than the farmhouse slatback chair. The chair is very popular and will suit many interiors. It is best used when matched with the Farmhouse Tulip tables (available in three different sizes) or the cast iron tables such as the Rectangular Scroll Table.
If you have space to include a relaxed sofa area, perhaps pitched up next to an open fireplace, we recommend using the Chesterfield sofa. Available as an armchair, two-seater or three-seater sofa, this piece of furniture has become a classic design in pubs. This comfortable sofa has a luxurious finish and is upholstered in brown faux leather for a traditional look – perfect!
The finishing touches will be to add a scattering of bar stools. For stools propped up to your bar, we recommend the tall colonial stool with a piped or button top. And for those scattered around your pub as an alternative seat to a chair, the small wooden Tudor stools are ideal. Pair these stools with Farmhouse style chairs and it will complete your authentic pub look.
All of our stools can be upholstered in a range of colours, patterns and various types of materials. Choose from tweed, dralon, flatweave and faux leathers or you can even supply your own fabric.
