Bonfire Night is admittedly the smallest of the autumnal events, at an estimated value of £52 million to the UK economy, compared with over £300 million spent on Halloween; but it is also a clearly defined celebration, allowing suitable venues to set out the banqueting furniture for outdoor festivities whatever the weather.
Even in the UK, it's unusual to find an event that people will turn out for whatever the weather, but a ticketed bonfire and firework display is one that will bring people out in hoods and brollies if necessary, making it a sure-fire success.
On the night, most people will still head out even in light to moderate drizzle to attend a local display, even if they have not already bought a ticket - and for some people it's the last chance to go to an outdoor event before the colder days of Christmas markets and gift shopping.
According to consumer market analysts Mintel, organised firework displays are most significant in urban areas, where people are less likely to have suitable outdoor space of their own to have a bonfire or garden display.
But in many rural communities, a public bonfire is a great chance for people to come together in a season which, due to harvest, can be even more significant in their lives.
In either case, setting out some banqueting furniture helps to give people a clearly defined place to sit - or even to stand, if you choose to provide more table space than chairs, as many people will be happy just to have somewhere to set down their drink.
Trestle tables are a great option, easy to transport into position with their legs folded flat, and with four sturdy steel legs that will offer stability on soft ground.
You don't need a tablecloth as the bolts holding the legs on are flush with the table top, and the protective varnish on the top should be resistant to inclement weather (although it's not wise to leave banqueting tables out in heavy rain or to remain wet for any longer than is absolutely necessary).
A £52 million market is still sizeable for a single event, and with economical and durable banqueting furniture, there's no reason not to cash in, if your venue has suitable outdoor space for even a modest bonfire or firework display.
