While many Britons might be mourning the passing of 2012, there are plenty of reasons to celebrate in 2013 that will keep bums on seats and banqueting furniture in demand for venues and street parties alike.
Tourism agency VisitBritain has a shortlist of, appropriately enough, 13 reasons to celebrate this year, but here are just a couple of the best ones.
Understandably, for anyone who's really missing the Jubikend - the weekend of Diamond Jubilee festivities - the Royal Wedding and the Olympics, there are a couple of upcoming events along the same themes.
In July, on the anniversary of the London 2012 opening ceremony, the first parts of the Olympic Park reopen to the public, under their new name of Queen Elizabeth Park.
The July 27th reopening of parts of the north of the site coincides with the British Athletics London Grand Prix, which is to be held at the Olympic Stadium rather than its original intended venue at Crystal Palace.
July should also see the birth of a new addition to the Royal Family, as Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are expecting their first child.
With close links between these upcoming 2013 events and the celebrations that took place in 2012, it's a good idea to keep banqueting furniture close at hand in order to keep the festivities alive for a further 12 months.
