If you run a cafe or coffee shop, much of your daytime trade probably consists of parents with their children - so why not invest in some extra child-friendly bistro furniture to truly capitalise on this potential?
According to Action for Children, about a quarter of all British parents feel lonely and isolated, and 57% say they think it is important for their social lives that they should have friends who are parents too.
The problem is at its greatest in England and Wales, where 24% and 31% of parents respectively said they feel cut off from their friends; in Northern Ireland that figure is 22% and in Scotland it stands at 19%.
Jan Leightley, managing director of operations at Action for Children, said: "Becoming a parent doesn't come with a handbook; you're always learning and as your children grow their needs, and the skills you need to call on as a parent, change.
"Having a network that you can call on is vital, to help celebrate your child's achievements and share those funny moments or the tougher times, which all parents face."
Action for Children runs children's centres where parents can get out of the house and socialise with others in their situation - but simply adding some child-friendly bistro furniture to your furnishings could allow you to welcome groups of parents too, or even set up a social circle for parents in your area.
High chairs are of course a useful addition to provide a secure place for babies and toddlers to sit, once they are old enough to be taken out of their pram or buggy.
Wooden high chairs are a commonly seen feature in any cafe or coffee shop, so it's a good idea to make sure you have not just one of these, but several on hand in case a group of parents arrive all at once.
For older children, consider leather cubes and other solid leather stools as a versatile way to provide smaller people with somewhere to sit.
These do not take up much space, are easy to relocate to accommodate different groups of parents and kids, and won't look out of place if you remain open in the evenings to over-18s only, either.
