Is your pub struggling to get customers through the door, especially in midweek? There’s no denying that trying to get customers to your pub on a week night can be a difficult task.
You’re never going to consistently hit the turnover you’ll reach on Friday and Saturday evenings, but there are ways that you can certainly improve your footfall in midweek and build a positive reputation for yourself in doing so.
Instead of waiting for the weekend to arrive and big sporting events to get people through your doors, consider rolling out some of these events to help!
1. Pub Quizzes
The pub quiz: the classic midweek entertainment for a pub. It’s considered a classic simply because it works so well. You rarely see a pub quiz that isn’t well attended. If it’s done well, the weekly pub quiz can become a fixture in the diaries of locals.
What’s more, a cleverly timed interval in the middle of the quiz can also spark some sales from the food menu. If done right, a pub quiz night could quickly turn into one of the busiest nights of the week.
2. Live Music Events
Live music always goes down well. If you have space in your pub, why not invite some local bands to play? They’ll appreciate the opportunity to play in front of people and you’ll benefit from getting new customers in your pub. It’s a win-win. Be sure to fit the type of music with the customers in your pub and the brand that you’re trying to create.
3. Charity Nights
You can draw a crowd by hosting a charity evening with a portion of the proceeds going to a local charity. You could have a series of entertainment on the evening such as a comedian and live music. How could locals resist, especially if you have offers on food and drink?
4. Pool & Darts Tournaments
Traditional pubs are bound to have a pool table and darts board. If you don’t, consider investing in one or both; you’ll be surprised how much of an impact having one or the other will have on your foot fall.
Once you have them both, it’s time to organise a tournament for your regulars. This could perhaps be a once a month event where each entrant puts in £5 each. The winner of the tournament will then receive a share of the total sum or be rewarded with a bar tab (something that’ll get them back through the doors).
Furniture for pub events
Expecting extra guests is always welcome news for a pub but you need to make sure that your prepared and have enough furniture in place to cater for them all. For a pub quiz, for example, you’ll have people perched on the end of tables and plenty switching seats between one table and another.
Having some backup seating for when a large number of the people come through the door is a must. Stacking chairs that can be easily stored away are a popular choice. And with a range of colours and styles available at Trent Furniture, there is a stacking chair to match with every pub’s décor.
