Hotel furniture manufacturers who adhere to best-in-class standards could soon be able to benefit from a Gold Certification scheme operated by FIRA, the Furniture Industry Research Association.
The possibility was one of the topics discussed during FIRA's recent House of Lords gathering, where over 200 furniture industry representatives were present.
FIRA's Gold Certification scheme has already proved successful, with manufacturers, installers and customers all seeing benefits since its introduction.
Now, however, FIRA is looking into the feasibility of introducing Gold Certification for bedroom and bathroom furniture - something that may affect hotel furniture in particular.
Phil Reynolds, chief operating officer of FIRA International, says the event was "a huge success" - and was a chance for him to introduce himself as the organisation's new COO.
"It is always good to meet up with the new members and clients, and to catch up with old friends," he adds.
The meeting was also a chance for FIRA to remind those present of certain other issues on which it is currently campaigning.
Among them is the impact of biofuels on the furniture industry - where, for instance, the burning of timber as fuel can have an impact on the availability of wood as a raw material for manufacturing.
