Hotel furniture can provide a night of indulgent comfort for Britons who subscribe to the theory that it's OK to treat yourself once in a while.
Research from Barclaycard reveals that while we all (well, 58% of us) appreciate the effort people go to when choosing presents for us, one in six of us would prefer to have some say in the matter.
This is particularly the case in five main shopping categories: clothing, electronics, alcohol/tobacco, recreation, and hotel stays.
Indeed, it seems likely that more people will be choosing which hotel furniture to sleep on and hang their clothes in, as 36% of those who 'self-gift' make use of mileage schemes, point-based rewards and cashback in order to pay for their treats.
And comfortable hotel furniture - even if it's just a leather tub chair for your customers to collapse into at check-in - could help to assuage any lingering feelings of guilt for those who have splashed out on a weekend away or an indulgent overnight stay.
The Barclaycard research found one in eight men (13%) feel guilty when they treat themselves in this way, compared with almost a quarter of women.
By equipping your reception area, lounges and bedrooms with welcoming, comfortable hotel furniture, you can soothe away those stresses, leaving your residents to enjoy their stay - however long it lasts.
