North-west burger chain Almost Famous has risen phoenix-like from the ashes of its former Manchester location, with more restaurant furniture than ever before helping to cater for the crowds at the Great Northern.
The previous Almost Famous Manchester was based in the city's Northern Quarter, but it went up in smoke - quite literally - when it burned to the ground several months ago.
Almost Famous refused to be beaten by circumstance, and fought back from the flames with a range of guerrilla-style events including a pop-up summer shop outside the former Great Northern Railway Warehouse, which is now a leisure venue complete with bars and restaurants, cinema, casino and fitness centre.
The team also provided a 'temp menu' at Luck, Lust, Liquor and Burn, as a tongue-in-cheek way of piggybacking on their neighbours' premises while their own venue was out of action.
But now the brand - which also has a restaurant in Liverpool - has returned as a permanent fixture on the Manchester landscape, with an even bigger space inside the Great Northern.
The Manchester Pub and Club Network was one of the first through the door for a preview of the new eatery, which promises to deliver the same selection of epic burgers and other unique recipes that made the original Almost Famous a cherished destination for Mancunians and visitors to the city.
According to reporter David Blake, the new Almost Famous Manchester is "bigger, bolder, bawdier and now all-inclusive - yes, anyone is welcome at their new home ... they have a lot more space to fill, you see".
With larger premises fully equipped with a selection of restaurant furniture to cater for groups of varying sizes, Almost Famous have been able to relax their door policy, which previously saw some turned away from the more bijou Northern Quarter location.
The story is a tale of triumph over adversity for the well-liked brand, which saw an outpouring of support from local residents when the original restaurant burned to the ground.
And the new premises perfectly highlight the value of having a substantial amount of restaurant furniture available, to avoid having to turn potential paying customers away from your door.
