Ahead of the Diamond Jubilee, we reported how new hotel furniture could help businesses located along the River Thames to make the most of the influx of tourists.
With the Jubilee and the London 2012 Summer Olympics now over - but the Paralympic Games still to come - it's a good chance to take stock of how well any such investments in hotel furniture have been rewarded.
Perhaps the most visible example came in the Closing Ceremony of London 2012, when Jacques Rogge, president of the IOC, praised British hospitality.
Ufi Ibrahim, chief executive of the British Hospitality Association, welcomed the recognition - and added that the work of hoteliers and other hospitality staff will have lasting value for Great Britain.
"The Olympic Games have shown off Britain as a feel-good destination that will be a lasting legacy to the UK economy," she said.
"The 2.4 million people who work in hospitality have been the greatest-ever ambassadors for Britain."
While the Games are drawing to a close with the heroics of the Paralympic athletes, the tourism legacy of the events of summer 2012 is likely to last for plenty of time to come.
With that in mind, it's still a good time to invest in new hotel furniture, or to replace worn-out items for which the extra usage of the past few months proved to be the final straw.
