This summer could be the ideal time to invest in new club furniture, while also helping parents to entertain their children without breaking the bank.
A report from the Post Office shows how the six-week summer break is expected to stretch family finances, with some parents even considering taking on a second job in order to pay for entertaining their kids until the new school year begins.
One in six (17%) of those surveyed by the Post Office admitted that this is a possibility, 8% expect to cancel a holiday in order to cover the cost of entertaining the kids at home, 5% may request to skip a mortgage repayment, and 5% more suspect that they will put off paying household bills to free up funds.
Members' clubs could have an important role to play in helping their family members to make it through the summer without running their savings dry, or spending on a credit card to keep their kids from being bored.
Club membership typically comes with benefits in terms of costs - either due to low-cost access to facilities like snooker tables and tennis courts, or due to competitive prices on drinks and hot food.
And with many parents more worried than ever about how to pay for their children's summer holidays, all of these factors could come into play before September arrives.
The biggest worry for parents is the entry cost to attractions on days out; 43% think this will be a major expense, but it is one example of where club membership could help people to save by providing them with access to entertainment and facilities much more cheaply.
Second on the list is the cost of eating out (34%), which again can be countered thanks to the competitive menu prices offered in many members' clubs.
Third is the issue of petrol prices (27%) - but again, as many people are members of clubs in their local area, it shouldn't require much fuel to travel to a club.
All in all, the potential cost savings of club memberships are compelling, and with families in particular likely to be stretched over the summer months, investing in club furniture that caters for parents and their youngsters could be a wise move to make.
The average household is expected to spend £460 this summer on entertaining children - both their own, and those of friends and family - and as that money starts to roll into clubs' coffers in the coming months, it might be the ideal opportunity to make some timely purchases of new club furniture.
