Purchases of club furniture, and tables and chairs for other hospitality and leisure facilities, could be a timely move for the second quarter of 2012, with many business owners in the sector anticipating a positive performance in the coming months.
Figures from consultancy RSM Tenon, and published by the British Hospitality Association, show an increase in confidence among clubs, pubs, hotels, bars and restaurants in terms of their outlook for Q2, compared with the first quarter of the year.
While just 14% of those surveyed are "very confident" of hitting their revenue targets by mid-year, the majority - six out of ten of those questioned - expressed some degree of confidence in their ability to do so.
"It is great news that confidence in the sector is returning, despite the UK economy slipping back into recession," says RSM Tenon's head of hospitality and leisure, Jonathan Perrin.
Any purchases of restaurant, bar, pub and club furniture in the months to come are likely to help venues prepare for any surge in tourism due to the Olympic Games in London - but interestingly, many of those surveyed do not expect to see much of a benefit from the sporting event.
In London, the number of businesses expecting to see no benefit was three times the number expecting an Olympic boost this year - but Mr Perrin suggests that a long-term tourism increase is possible as those who attend this summer's events may choose to return to the UK for further holidays in the future.
