Any table needs a good reliable top, but cafe furniture takes more abuse than most, with heavy dishes placed down multiple times each day, customers banging cutlery against the surface, a seemingly endless series of spillages, and in many cases children leaning on the table while playing with toys or colouring in.
So depending on the type of establishment you run, the demographics of your customers, and simple personal preference, you might want to opt for a different type of table top - but what are the options?
Wooden tables are a firm favourite in cafe furniture, just as they are in pub and restaurant furniture - and a solid wooden table top is durable and hard-wearing, with the added bonus that you can lightly sand it down to remove surface marks and scratches, as well as applying stains and varnish to restore its lustre.
Our wooden tables come in a variety of different finishes - solid oak always makes a statement, and we can even supply replacement table tops in untreated wood, or with a light or dark oak or walnut treatment, and in a variety of square and rectangular sizes.
If you're on a tighter budget, veneer can give the aesthetic appeal of solid wood, again with the choice of walnut, light oak or dark oak, so that to the casual observer there is little to no difference between veneer table tops and solid wood table tops.
For a great budget alternative that can withstand its fair share of bumps and knocks, we can supply laminate table tops - particleboard with a high-pressure laminate finish in oak, walnut, mahogany or black, with a hard black protective edge that creates a distinctive visual effect.
Melamine table tops come in a selection of sizes and in light or dark oak finish, with a thick MDF core - these table tops work fantastically well in a contemporary setting, so if you have chosen contemporary chairs for your dining area, a melamine finish could be a great budget-saver for your tables.
Finally if you have a terrace or other outdoor area - whether for dining or just for drinks - you will want a weatherproof table top, and our stainless steel tables can serve this purpose excellently, with the steel wrapped around the sides of the particleboard core so spillages and rainwater cannot penetrate and cause it to warp.
