Love is in the air and Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. With UK couples spending millions of pounds every year over the romantic period, it’s an important time of year for all hospitality providers to make the most of.
Cafés notoriously aren’t the most romantic of settings, but with a few tweaks, you can turn your café into an exclusive space for couples to spend time together. In this post, we take a look at how cafés can appeal to couples over Valentine’s Day.
Afternoon Tea
We Brits love afternoon tea and it’s a popular activity for couples to share on Valentine’s Day. Even if afternoon tea isn’t something that your café usually provides, it’s worth offering an exclusive ‘one day only’ afternoon tea experience for couples.
The ticket-only event will create an intimate atmosphere and will mean that the romance isn’t dampened by businesspeople picking up a takeaway coffee.
Contest
For those who attend your couple’s night, this could automatically enter them into a prize draw with the winner of the prize revealed on the night itself. Alternatively, you could host a game for each table to take part in, such as guess the number of love hearts in a jar.
Try to get other local businesses involved in your prize giveaway. Maybe the prize could be a bouquet of flowers from you neighbouring florist or a hamper from a nearby independent deli.
Spread the love
How about giving a little love to a chosen local charity? Over the week of Valentine’s Day, your café could donate £1 of every £10 order to a charity of your choice. Demonstrating your love for a charity is a great way of getting involved in the Valentine’s fun without going overboard.
After hearing of your campaign, you’ll be surprised just how many people will come to your café and push their order over £10 to be eligible for a donation. And once the money is donated, it’s a great way of getting some PR.
Singles appreciation
Why not go against the tide and celebrate singles? Depending on your clientele, you might think that it’s better to celebrate ‘Singles Appreciation Day’ on February 15th instead of Valentine’s Day. As a cheeky twist, you could ban Valentine’s Day completely from your café. Going against the grain is a good way of getting some good engagement and reach in a campaign.
Best table and chair pairs
We all know famous romantic pairings – Bonnie and Clyde, Elvis and Priscilla Presley, Barack and Michelle Obama – but how about furniture pairings? Do your café’s tables and chairs truly go together? If not, take a look at our post with the best table and chair pairings for some inspiration.
