It can be hard for many of us to take a holiday at the best of times, but for self-employed individuals and entrepreneurs, being completely out of contact can be all but impossible.
In recent years we have seen a rise in business-friendly hotel furniture - still ergonomically designed and comfortable for casual use, but also suitable for use as a desk or workstation.
While a desk area might make a staycation seem more like a busman's holiday, it provides a way for hard-working entrepreneurs to keep up to date with essential emails and other correspondence.
According to figures from Lloyds Bank, 30% of new business owners have gone over two years without a holiday at all, and 34% have no plans to take a break in the foreseeable future.
A third add that they are in contact with suppliers, clients or colleagues every day of the week, a further sign that being able to catch up with correspondence from their hotel room might allow more to take some much-needed personal time.
The survey found that of those entrepreneurs who do manage to take a break, 79% check back in with their business at least once during their holiday.
Jo Harris, managing director of Lloyds Bank Retail Business Banking, said: "Many entrepreneurs make the leap into business ownership full of promise for more control and flexibility - getting away from a 9-5 desk existence.
"Being your own boss delivers countless benefits, but the responsibility that comes with it can make it harder to switch off and go on holiday."
Hoteliers can help to overcome this hurdle by providing suitable hotel furniture, whether that means a suitable desk area in each guest room, or even providing a 'hotdesking' area with a more formal layout in a communal room.
As more and more hotels also offer high-speed wireless internet access as standard, as well as greater access to charging points in convenient positions, it is becoming easier for online professionals to get work done from their room.
Not all hotel furniture needs to reflect this - and most leisure travellers will be looking for a comfy armchair or sofa rather than an office-style seat - but providing at least one straight-backed chair at a writing desk can only boost the versatility of your rooms for those who need to keep up with business during their stay.
