UK Pub Furniture Suppliers

We’ve been supplying UK pub furniture for many decades. Previously, we predominantly offered traditional Colonial and Farmhouse pub chairs and tables, but now pub and bar owners are calling for more modern, contemporary designs, manufactured in wood, steel or fully upholstered in leather or other easy to clean modern fabrics. We always make sure to keep up with the requirements of our customers.

Upholstering Pub Chairs

We upholster our traditional wooden pub chairs and many of our contemporary metal chairs in our factory here in Leicester. This allows us to offer more choice of colour, design and fabric type than the majority of our competitors but at a lower cost since we have no need to out-source this service.

Many of our wooden pub chairs are available in light oak, walnut or dark oak colour so it is easy to choose a finish to complement the character of your interior. We have ranges of wooden and leather dining chairs perfect for a restaurant area, as well as traditional low and tall bar stools which can be supplied with wooden tops or padded cushion stool tops upholstered in any of our fabric choices.

FIRA Standards Tested

We have items from each of our furniture ranges tested by FIRA (Furniture Industry Research Association). This independent U.K. research facility rigorously tests all types of furniture for companies throughout Europe. Having our tables and chairs certified by them as being suitable for use in a contract environment gives us the reassurance that our customers will be satisfied with our products.

Bar and pub furniture questions and answers:

What is the best height for a UK pub bar?

The height of a pub bar is most often considered to be 106cm on average. This is designed to be the optimal and most ergonomic height because it’s then able to service both standing and sitting users. 106cm is a comfortable height for standing users to lean against and, with bar stools at the proper height of around 71cm – 76cm, it’s a comfortable height to sit at too.

What are the best types of bar tables?

The ideal pub tables are ones that are durable and strong, making them suited to the wear and tear that it will be under. In order to accomplish these characteristics, tables are often made out of a hardwood such as oak or walnut. The veneers and finishes applied to these tables are also specially chosen to make the tables stain resistant and less prone to damage from heat or spillages.

What’s the most common height for a pub table?

The most common pub tables that can be seen in pubs are either square, rectangular or circular. For round tables, the diameters range from 60cm – 106cm to accommodate any sizes or designs. For dining tables, the square or rectangular sizes are very commonly chosen. Square dining tables are either sized at 60x60, 68x68 or 80x80 with a height between 71cm to 73cm. Rectangular dining tables are often larger pieces of furniture, with two widths offered – 60-68cm – and lengths of 92cm, 106cm, 120cm, and 150cm. Their heights can also be either 71cm or 73cm.

Facts about UK pubs, bars & pub furniture

Based on a Telegraph article (source: ‘Pubs: facts and figures’), 8/10 adults in the UK identify themselves as active pub goers, with over 15 million people in the UK who go out to drink at least once a week

Added to this, the UK has around 54 thousand pubs in the UK (requiring in excess of 1 million pub stools and related bar furniture), with 600 thousand people relying on them for employment spanning the UK.

Many pubs in the UK (notably in Scotland) are listed as hotels – this is related to a 1976 Scottish law which decreed that only hotels are legally able to serve alcoholic beverages on a Sunday.

What is the longest pub name in the UK? It’s ‘The Old Thirteenth Cheshire Astley Volunteer Rifleman Corps Inn in Stalybridge’, and the pub is located in Greater Manchester.
