Based in East Kilbride’s bustling Shopping Centre food court, the Manhattan Diner & Deli aims to stand out as an independent eatery amongst a variety of chain stores and fast food outlets, offering ‘a taste of Manhattan’ in ‘the friendliest place this side of the Atlantic’.
Opened in December 2014, the Diner & Deli is decorated in the style of a 1950s American diner – complete with booths, leather benches and a wall mural of the world-famous Manhattan skyline.
Prior to opening, the owners were looking for restaurant furniture that was both durable and in keeping with the ‘50s swing style of the Diner. They eventually came across Trent Furniture's website.
Whilst many customers go for red & cream leather chairs in keeping with their benches, they decided to go for a more sedate option, opting for the Boston side chair and stool, with some upholstered in cream faux leather and others with a walnut wood seat. They also ordered Black Pyramid Tables and Black Disc Tables in walnut, in both the square and rectangle styles to allow for a variety of ways to lay out the Diner.
The owners were very pleased with the quality of the furniture and how well it fitted in with the style they were trying to convey. Since opening, several customers have commented on the Diner’s furniture, with one describing ‘dining in comfort’ in her review of the establishment.
