The village hall in Fin stock, Oxfordshire has been the hub of the community since it was opened in 1939. However, after over 75 years of frequent use, it was time for the village hall to have a full revamp, including a set of new furniture.
Having received funding from the Big Lottery, the trustees began their search for stacking chairs to use in the new building.
With a fixed budget, the group wanted the best quality and style without sacrificing large amounts of their funding. As the hall hosts a number of activities, the chairs also needed to be versatile for use at a variety of events. Activities held at the hall include baby and toddler groups, music and entertainment performances, indoor sports as well as meetings and small clubs.
The group’s search was entirely internet based. After many hours of comparing chairs and checking testimonials to ensure the best value was found, the trustees placed an order for 120 Ascot chairs with Trent Furniture. The chairs provided the quality and versatility needed for use in the village hall.
Three years of planning and fundraising resulted in a brand new village being revealed to residents at an open day in April 2016. The furniture supplied by Trent has since been used for several large events, including the recent comedy night (see image). The chairs’ comfort and style continues to be commented on by guests.
Shaun Morley, chair of the trustees, commented “We unveiled the new hall at a community open day and the chairs received lots of positive comments. They really do look great! Ordering was easy and being able to keep in direct contact with staff made sure that the delivery was at a time which suited us. It was a pleasure ordering from Trent.”
