The Lion Hotel is a family run hotel in the heart of Criccieth, a coastal town in the north west of Wales. The hotel dates back to the 18th century and, as you would expect from a period building, has an antique décor.
As well as rooms for visitors, the Lion Hotel has a restaurant and bar area which is a popular choice for both the residents and general public. It is here that the owners were looking to redesign and create a more contemporary look.
Although the restaurant area had been refurbished five years prior, the colour of the room had kept a pink tone ever since the new owners moved in in 1979. The full refurbishment included changing the colour scheme, wallpapers, carpets and furniture. Following an order of four tables from different suppliers, the owners decided to use those found on Trent Furniture as they better matched their needs.
25 square dark oak farmhouse tables and one rectangular dark oak shaker table were ordered; these designs have increased in popularity in recent years with the trend for colonial furniture. Although they’re brand new, the tables give the concept of shabby chic due to their traditional style and oak finish – much in keeping with the antique décor throughout the rest of the hotel.
“The tables are just the right size and can be doubled up, or more, for larger parties. The wood together with the slate runners we have added look fantastic,” commented Sandra Burnett, managing director at the Lion Hotel.
The new look restaurant has now been revealed and has drew positive comments from regular and new customers. Sandra explained: “We have had lots of wonderful feedback and all of our staff are delighted with the new look too. We couldn’t be happier with the overall very modern restaurant we have achieved.”
