Banqueting furniture doesn't have to cater for a huge number of people - even just one or two banqueting tables can help you to set up outdoors or in a venue that isn't usually furnished - but of course more often than not, you are trying to accommodate 50, 100 or even more revellers than that.
Whether it's a wedding, a garden party or a corporate event, the banqueting furniture you choose can make a huge difference to the number of people who can comfortably fit into your venue, without it feeling cramped.
Rectangular tables are very efficient in their use of space, as multiple tables can be placed end to end to create long lines of place settings, while multiple rows can then be positioned parallel to each other with easy access between them for serving staff, and to allow diners in and out from their seats.
However, at an event like a wedding, round tables are more commonly used - and these have their own advantages for a celebration, where the tables are likely to be laid in a certain way.
First of all, the circular shape of a round table means a centrepiece, such as flowers or candles, can be put in the middle with plenty of room around the edge for the place settings.
Round tables naturally offer more elbow space too, as the imaginary wedge shape of each place setting fans out from the centre of the table to its edge and beyond - and towards the middle of the table, at the 'thin end' of each place, smaller items like glasses of water or wine can be placed.
Different sizes of table can accommodate different sizes of room, and different numbers of guests, so measure your space and decide which size of table will fit best - larger tables to fill a big place properly, or smaller ones to leave room to walk past them, or if it means you can fit an extra table in overall.
Finally, the folding legs of banqueting furniture make it ideal if access to your venue is an issue, with table trolleys for rectangular trestles and for round tables too, meaning they should fit through any reasonably sized doorway, or of course you can carry them individually through even narrower gaps.
