Following the news from Mintel earlier this month that many Brits do not cook from scratch on most days of the week, cafe furniture could help to keep their diets on the right side of the calorie count.
Eating in at a restaurant often offers access to a broader selection of menu items, including low-fat and other healthy options, compared with the foods that are available from takeaways to eat at home, or as chilled and frozen ready meals for home reheating.
And with even fewer young Britons saying they feel confident in the kitchen than is the case among their older counterparts, cafe furniture could be in greater demand in the years ahead.
Mintel found that just 39% of people - fewer than two in every five - consider themselves to be confident cooks in the kitchen.
Among 16 to 24-year-olds that figure drops to just 30% - and 16% actually find it stressful trying to prepare a meal from fresh ingredients.
It's not just cooking the meal that causes stress though; almost one in five (19%) of those surveyed by Mintel across all adult age groups admitted to choosing what to eat based in part on how much washing up it will generate.
With all of this stress and uncertainty surrounding food, restaurateurs have the ideal opportunity to reach a growing younger market with healthy and affordable everyday meal choices.
And to do so effectively, the right choice of cafe furniture could be crucial in catering for different types of young customer - from those visiting with friends to those with young family in tow.
For example, if your cafe furniture is fixed in place, you may be less able to accommodate especially large groups, or find a spare space to fit in an extra table for one or two diners.
More importantly, you could be left with nowhere to easily add a high chair, severely limiting the bookings you can take that include young children.
With a good selection of movable restaurant furniture, you can easily adjust your dining area to suit the evening's bookings - and welcome all kinds of guests who are keen to escape the stress and hassle of cooking at home.
