Comfortable cafe furniture provides a much-needed place to rest for walkers at the end of a long day's hiking.
From May 4th to 11th, the UK is celebrating Get Walking Week, and 'Britain's walking charity' Ramblers are already urging people to start gearing themselves up for the event.
In Wales, the week coincides with the Big Welsh Walk on the bank holiday weekend, while north of the border 2013 is the Year of Natural Scotland, making the week a good chance to get active for Britons everywhere.
Simon Barnett, director of walking programmes at Ramblers, says: "Walking has so many benefits; you can improve your physical and mental health, spend time outdoors and enjoy the company of others."
The week should also see cafe furniture in demand at many rural tea rooms, whose trade depends largely on tourism and on potential customers simply walking in the door on any given day.
With that in mind, it may be a good time for some cafe owners to invest in a few new pieces of furniture - even if it is simply a comfortable sofa to go alongside existing chairs.
If you're not convinced early May will deliver a heat wave as it has done in recent years, weatherproof outdoor furniture is an ideal compromise, allowing you to capitalise on any sunny days but with the ability to resist the sudden downpours that are typical of British summertime.
