Spring is soon to be upon us. With longer daylight hours and Easter celebrations, there is plenty for pub and restaurant owners to look forward to. Add the two bank holidays either side of the weekend, and there is plenty of scope to encourage celebrations at your establishment.
Easter Weekend
Easter is very much a family time of year so you need to ensure that you appeal to all age groups. For little ones you could hold an Easter egg hunt, an Easter-themed colouring zone or quiz and for adults there could be live music and specialist drinks.
Some ideas for pubs and restaurants for Easter 2017:
• Quiz. Your pub might already run a weekly quiz but if you hold one with a bigger prize than usual over Easter weekend you’re likely to draw a big crowd. Proceeds from the quiz could go towards a local charity - a move that will further increase attendee numbers.
• Live music. Live music helps to create an atmosphere and can run well into the evening.
• Keeping children occupied. Happy children mean happy parents, so if the children are content and have plenty to get on with it gives parents a chance to unwind and relax. Your establishment could have a designated child’s area with colouring, drawing and activities, an Easter egg hunt and have outdoor activities such as a bouncy castle.
• Specialist food. Easter takes place later in the year this year so the options available to venues are wider. Yes, there is the traditional Easter dinner, but the warmer weather could give the option of hosting the first barbeque of the year. Regardless of which you choose, it needs to be high on quality.
It’s important to get the word out early about your offerings for spring and Easter as many families book their plans well in advance of the Easter weekend itself.
Outdoor furniture
With longer evenings – and hopefully some spring sunshine – spring is a great time to utilise your outdoor space. Easter falls a bit later in the year in 2017 so establishments need to ensure that their furniture is in a good state before setting it up.
In a busy venue the outdoor furniture not only needs to be visual appealing, it also needs to be durable. In a busy venue with a high footfall, you need outdoor dining products that not only look beautiful but also have a lasting durability. The furniture needs to be long-standing and able to withstand the contact with customers, water, heat and harsh outdoor elements.
