Pub furniture for the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games should be ordered, delivered and installed well in advance of the event if venues are to be properly prepared for the influx of overseas visitors.
The British Beer & Pub Association is urging publicans throughout London and its surrounding area to get essential deliveries of all kinds made at the right time in the run-up to the Olympics.
Chief executive Brigid Simmonds says: "We need to get London businesses to plan early for their deliveries, and we want to ensure we produce advice that can be made available to all London businesses."
The issue is not only one of preparedness, but also stems from the concerns of "bottlenecks and pitfalls in June" that might occur if transport problems are not tackled proactively.
In many places - both in central London and into its outlying parts - hospitality businesses can expect special deliveries of essential supplies they need in order to serve their customers.
However, non-essential deliveries may be disrupted by road closures and alterations to where turnings can be made.
As such, those keen to refurnish their premises in time to capitalise on the tourist trade this coming summer could be wise to make sure their new pub furniture is in place well ahead of the Olympic opening ceremony.
