It doesn’t seem like two minutes since we were predicting trends for 2017, but here we are again; a new year and with it comes new ideas, new goals and, importantly for us, new décor ideas.
We don’t recommend that every restaurant changes there décor on a yearly basis to follow trends, but there are certainly elements that can be added, whatever the theme of the restaurant. Whether you are opening a new restaurant or are in need of a revamp, here are some restaurant trends for interior design in 2018:
Make your business Instagram-able
Instagram is the modern way of attracting word of mouth. If your interior is ‘Instagram-able’, you’ll benefit from having customers posting pictures, for all of their followers to see, of your restaurant.
The unexpected, personal, or vintage design elements are perfect for creating an Instagram moment. Some aspects that can encourage photographs being taken are neon lights, unique food presentation, block quotes on walls and patterned floor tiles. Most of all, think colour.
Wooden furniture
Rustic, industrial-looking furniture has been a common sight in recent years and in 2018 restaurants will look to create fresh and warm environments by using natural textures and earthy tones. Wood paneling used alongside browns, greys, blues, mustards and greens gives a natural finish to a restaurant.
Go Green with eco furnishing
Over the past few years, you’ll have noticed more plants and greenery in restaurants. Some will even dedicate a whole wall to greenery. Not only is being around plants relaxing for your customers, it also makes a connection about the freshness of your ingredients. You may even want to grow your herbs and even some produce on-site.
Less is more when is comes to furnishing your restaurant
It can be easily done – cramming as many customers in as possible so that you can maximise profits – but the can affect the customer experience if done badly. The Swedish lagom trend began in 2017 and it is expected to continue through 2018 with more restaurant owners embracing the idea that less is more. The Swedish word lagom means just the right amount; not too much, not too little.
Quality is paramount here. By going simple, every detail matters and will be noticed by your customers. If your restaurant is in a unique building, embrace the craftsmanship of the space by highlighting its features. Find out more about lagom décor.
