Restaurant tables are more than just a surface to eat from for many customers, and from your choice of restaurant furniture, to the tableware you place on it, you could have more control than you realise over enticing customers back for more.
A recent survey conducted on behalf of tableware brand Steelite International found that 70% of diners "appreciate a well-presented table" when eating out.
More than two fifths (42%) of the survey respondents said a poorly presented table would make them less likely to eat at that establishment again in future - and that figure rises among men.
"The survey proves that operators need to consider the presentation of their dishes as part of their restaurant's overall design," says Steelite International's head of marketing and design, Chris Proud.
While the survey relates primarily to crockery, cutlery and glassware - rather than to restaurant tables themselves - a good-quality table that offers good stability and does not rock is a clear benefit in terms of customer satisfaction.
If your restaurant furniture is getting past its best, consider investing in some new tables to bring your dining area up to date - and you could find the investment pays for itself in terms of repeat custom.
