Mother's Day - or Mothering Sunday, to use its proper name - was on March 15th (not to be confused with the American tradition of Mother's Day held in mid-May) and it's a good time to think about why club furniture of all kinds should be available to mums if and when they need it.
In many establishments, there's enough club furniture for members, but budget and space constraints might mean little thought is given to accommodating extra friends and family who bring them along to their weekly meetings and so on.
But a few stackable chairs may be a particularly thoughtful addition to any sports club furniture, or to your selection of music club furniture if you don't have permanent audience seating installed.
That is because mums are often doing the work of a full-time chauffeur - and usually for free - according to a survey by Ocean Finance.
On a list of the types of jobs mums do for their kids, often without getting any credit, it is no surprise that childcare came top, with the average mum putting in £12,000 worth of nannying over the course of a year, plus a further £5,000 of personal shopper time on behalf of their kids.
Time spent preparing meals would cost nearly £9,000 to hire a professional chef; counselling the child would cost £6,300 in therapist fees; and housekeeping would come to £6,000 too.
But the next biggest 'expense' after these, a hefty £4,165, is for the chauffeur costs avoided by having mum ferry the kids around to school, social clubs, parties and other activities over the course of a year.
It's part of a total 'annual mum value' of nearly £50,000, and it's a good reason to make sure mums are well catered for by having club furniture available for them to rest their weary feet when they drop their child off, or while they wait to pick their little one up at the end of their session.
Mothering Sunday is all about putting mums at the front of our minds - but we should be doing this all year round, in recognition of the hard work they put in, unpaid and often with little or no credit.
